About
Darkbyte Systems
An engineering and software company in Edmond, Oklahoma, founded in January 2026 by Nick Poulos.
What we do
Darkbyte Systems works on two fronts. For defense programs, we build applied AI and decision software, sensor and signal data pipelines, and the mechanical hardware that carries them, from design through prototype and test. For growing companies, we run an AI business operating system that puts AI employees across every function of the business.
The two fronts share one practice. The decision software that runs in our own operating companies every day is the same integration, scoring and approval-before-action pattern we bring to a program’s problem.
How we work
- The founder scopes the problem, builds the plan and assigns the team. Software and hardware come from one team of U.S. persons, so a task that needs both does not need two vendors or a hand-off between them.
- Systems that have to work where the network is denied or degraded are designed for it from the start. When the mission needs it, a system runs with no network, cloud service or external model call.
- Where a system can act, a person approves first, and every decision leaves an auditable trail.
- Test protocols are set before results are collected, and predicted figures are labeled as predicted.
Where the software comes from
A data integration and audit platform built by Darkbyte correlates more than 20 sources and is in daily operational use at affiliated manufacturing and distribution companies. It is the commercial proving ground for the decision software: the same integration, scoring and approval-before-action patterns run there every day before they go into defense work.
The founder
Nick Poulos is a mechanical engineer (B.S., Oklahoma Christian University, 2014). He worked as a manufacturing engineer and in oil and gas field operations before founding and operating manufacturing and distribution companies from 2020, one of them a third-party-audited manufacturing operation. He founded Darkbyte Systems in January 2026, scopes every engagement and assigns the team that delivers it.
